Impressive Doesn't Even Fully Describe It.
But Groundbreaking Does.
Introducing the St. Louis Urea Center and Stabilized Nitrogen Center – Built to Meet the Growing Demand for Imported Urea Every year, North America's fertilizer market is increasing their reliance on imported urea. This reliance has caused Lange-Stegmann to step up and meet the challenge of providing high quality urea at reliable fast lead times by building the nation's first and largest inland urea import terminal. Another situation facing the world is finding a reliable and stable nitrogen source. AGROTAIN International is answering that challenge with its new Stabilized Nitrogen Center, the nation's first urea manufacturing plant using phase modification.

The Urea Center is a remarkable facility. It has a storage capacity of 63,000 tons of urea and the ability to turn inventory four times a month. It is strategically located on the Mississippi River that is lock free and ice-free which allows barges from New Orleans to offload imported urea year-round. The Urea Center is serviced directly by the Burlington Northern Santa Fe and the nation's railroads through the cooperative Terminal Railroad Association of St. Louis. Any railroad in North America will be able to access the Urea Center without complications.

The St. Louis Urea Center can transfer product quickly and efficiently from barge to warehouse to awaiting trucks or trains. As many as four barges of urea can be unloaded daily. During the unloading process, the urea is conditioned to remove lumps. A covered conveyor then moves the urea from riverside into the warehouse. Once inside, the urea is delivered to a waiting bin. When a customer requests a delivery, the urea is moved out of the waiting bin by front-end loaders and then placed into a loading pit and conditioned for a second time. The average truck can be loaded with conditioned urea in just six minutes and a rail car can be loaded at the average of only 22 minutes.

This facility is a symbol of the dedication to the long-lasting partnerships Lange-Stegmann has built with their customers. These customers are able to utilize the new storage facility as part of their own supply networks. The partners will have the flexibility to source urea from around the world and utilize the Urea Center to offload barges, to condition urea, and to load for shipment to their own customers.

Dedication to its customers and the commitment to improved efficiency nitrogen is the reason AGROTAIN International erected such a phenomenal facility. The Stabilized Nitrogen Center is unique to other urea manufacturing plants because it uses a one of a kind process of phase modification to change the physical state of the urea. Once that has taken place the Stabilized Nitrogen Technology is added next it is re-granulated using a precise falling curtain method, this part of the process allows for specific sizing and accurate spherical shape it also ensures the even distribution of the Stabilized Nitrogen Technology throughout the granule. This center is remarkable because it takes a basic nitrogen commodity with undesirable traits and transforms it into an enhanced efficiency nitrogen source.
